It's Been a Minute

Hey so...long time no talk, right? Promise I didn’t fall of the face of the earth!

Well except I kinda did because this past May I moved to a place where broadband doesn't exist and cell towers can't seem to find me, back to the area I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, to help run my family’s vineyard and winery. I'm fully aware that last part sounds a lot like a Hallmark movie, and honestly, that's not too far off base. I won't be shy about how beautiful and special this place is (see below photo). And while being "off the grid" has definitely had it's challenges, it's ultimately been really nice to be disconnected from the world when I go back to my house after work.

I had really high hopes of being able to do it all: learn an entirely new business while continuing to grow my own business, and then in my free time I could casually become expert of the great outdoors (I think I hiked a grand total of three times this summer and none of them were new trails so yeah that went well). It became really clear from the get-go that I had my hands full and the tough reality was that I really couldn't do it all like I had expected. So I made the decision that, for this particular season, I needed to be as present as possible for the Winery and with my family. And I'm so grateful I did. There was so much ground to cover and, more than anything, it’s been such a sweet summer / fall working alongside my mom and grandpa.

Business at the Winery has this much-needed lull between the end of October and Thanksgiving. We use this time to get ready for the choose-n-cut Christmas Tree farm that we also run (I'm telling you: we've got our hands full, y'all), but I am savoring this time to blow some cobwebs off of J. Louise and start adding bits and pieces back into the balance, especially as Christmas draws near and custom painted gifts are the best!!

This holiday season, I'm available for a limited number of custom orders (limited since, ya know, I gotta keep my personal sanity in mind) and to submit a custom inquiry you can either visit my custom orders page or fill out the form down below.

And finally, after a little sabbatical: A Free Lock Screen for you! Just save the photo below to you phone and set it as your background.
